Key concepts
The words Tidy uses, from opportunity and client to workspace, subject, assembly and agent token.
#Company and people
| Term | Meaning |
|---|
| Company | Your organization in Tidy. Everything you create belongs to it, and no other company can see it. |
| Admin | Can manage the team, billing, company settings and plugins |
| Estimator | Every other member. Can do all the bid work. |
| Seat | A paid place for one person on Pro or Max |
#Bids
| Term | Meaning |
|---|
| Opportunity (bid) | One project you were invited to bid. Tidy uses both words. |
| Client | The company that invited you to bid, such as a general contractor or owner |
| Contact | A person at a client |
| Lead estimator | The one person who owns a bid |
| Team | Everyone else working on a bid |
| Acceptance status | Undecided, Accepted, Submitted, Needs Revision or Declined |
| Award status | NA (no result yet), Won or Lost |
| Bids address | The email address you forward invites to |
#Drawings and takeoff
| Term | Meaning |
|---|
| Workspace | Where takeoff happens. Holds sheets from a bid's drawings and everything measured on them. |
| Sheet | One page of a drawing set, with its number and title |
| Scale | The real size of the drawing, set per sheet |
| Measurement | An area, length or count drawn on a sheet |
| Subject | The name that groups measurements, such as "ACT-1". Other tools call it a condition. |
| Proposal (AI takeoff) | A dashed measurement the agent drew. It counts only after you accept it. |
| Observation | An issue pinned on a drawing |
#Pricing
| Term | Meaning |
|---|
| Budget | Your internal cost for a bid. The client never sees it. |
| Assembly | One priced item in a budget: Material, Labour, Equipment or Subcontract |
| Component | A part inside a material assembly, such as tile or grid |
| Cost Library | Your company's saved assemblies and components |
| Leveling | Comparing sub quotes for one package, item by item |
| Proposal | The branded document the client gets |
| Revision | A numbered, locked copy of a proposal that was sent |
#Agent
| Term | Meaning |
|---|
| Tidy agent | The AI agent built into Tidy |
| Approval card | The agent's request to make a change. You can decline, allow once or always allow. |
| Permission | Allow, Ask or Block for each agent action |
| Plugin | A group of agent abilities an admin can turn on or off |
| Skill | Saved instructions the agent loads when they fit |
| Memory | Facts and preferences the agent keeps when you ask it to remember |
| Agent token | A short code such as BID-7K3P9QX2 that points any agent at one thing in Tidy |
| MCP | The standard that lets Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants connect to Tidy |
| Record | A spreadsheet view of your bids with your own columns, which agents can read and write |
